Not Allowed to Shave
I am 15 years old and I'm not allowed to shave. Most of my friends started shaving when they were in the 6th grade. It's really embarrassing because people have even said stuff to me about not shaving. I don't know how to bring the subject up with my parents. I never really talk to them about anything because they don't understand anything that I talk to them about. I've tried bringing up this subject with them but they never get the hint! Does any one have any ideas of how to bring the subject up to them? What age did you all start shaving at and how did your parents bring the subject up to you? Please reply!

I say go to one of your close friends house and ask to use a new razor and just do it there if you're to worried about your parents.

I can relate to your article I wasn't allowed to shve until I was 14. It was a pain my mom thought it was not woth
me shaving. So I kept bugging her. If your mom still doesn't let you tell her this:
" Mom, I know you don't want to hear this but, I am so tired of people calling me hairy, I can't wear shorts I am afarid to dress out in gym because all the girls shave and they always brag about how they shaved when they were in 5th grade..."
and if that doesn't work GO TO A FRIENDS HOUSE AND DO IT THERE OR BUY A RAZOR AND HIDE IT IN YOUR ROOM *Good Luck*

buy ur own razor and do it and wear pants around them or have ur friend give u a razor and if they dont know about ur problem then gees just steal one..u need a razor!! shavet ur legs...ur definately not doin enough protesting or enough sneaking if i wasnt aloud to shave my legs i would still be able to shave them without my parents knowing and u can probably do it 2

I was lucky because I have a big sister, and she helped me when I started to shave. I totally understand how hard it is to talk to your parents about that type of stuff. But my advice to you is to talk to a friend about it, or just go out and do it yourself. Or you can just be upfront with your parents about it. Good luck!

Bring the subject of shaving up by saying...
"Mom, Dad...Some people at school notice my legs and make some pretty nasty comments...its really abnormal for me to have to wait until you feel im supposed to, to shave my legs. Im trying to understand you, but its not working...please let me shave. Shaving is completely normal for people my age, as long as I dont like go crazy and shave my arms, eyebrows, and what not. Please just try to understand where im coming from, and let me shave!!" Just let em know that u truly think the time is right...if u need 2...show em ur legs...and then tell them that this isnt one of those things where 'everyone else is doing it, why shouldnt I'. Just be truthful, and do whatever is necessary to get them to realize that you really feel you have to shave!! Your growing up, and they may have some trouble accepting it or sumthing. Don't be afraid to sit down and talk to them..they are your parents and they :) you.

If you need to shave, you need to! That's the way it is. My dad's totally against the idea because he thinks it's a waste of time, but he doesn't carry it on his mind. My mom doesn't care. I honestly don't think what's the big deal. I don't really shave everyday, more like every few days, and it only takes up like 3 minutes of my shower time! What's so biggie about that? Just smooth on the soap or gel, shave, then rinse! I always use soap and i've never gotten razor burn. It's just part of my life habits, like brushing my teeth. You don't want to not brush your teeth don't u?

what can your parents do about it after you've shaved?
Ana View Profile 26-Jul-02
same with my mom. but i do it anyway. I can make my own decisions cuz i'm 15. And my mom barely notices my hair. If you hair is blonde, she won't notice it. Don't worry.

Your 15, why not just go out, buy a razor and some gel, and just do it?

First of all i startes shaving when i wa sin 7th grade and my mom actually kinda brought it up to me. But does your mom shave? If she does ask her how she would feel with hairy legs. Try asking her why she WONT let you shave. The only reason i can think of is getting cut. But if thats it ask her if you could get your legs waxed.

Thanks for the help so far.

listen deary. it's ur body. who gets the right to tell YOU what to do with it or not?? it's not like ur parents are going to be living with your legs everyday at school. if i were you, i'd just shave it. what's done is done and if my parents didn't like it, i'd tell them they didn't give me tips on it so i decided to figure it on my own. i dunno, that's just me. maybe u're parents won't understand. but i think that will get through to mine. hope i helped you, if not, sorry.

Well when i started shaving was when it was the summer before my 7th grade year and I told my mom that i had hair growing under my arms and i needed a shaver to shave them and then, I started shaving my legs and she really didn't care but my suggestion would be to be blunt about it and get your point across.
