Toner?
Hey everyone. I was hoping someone could clear something up for me. Can someone please tell me what using a toner actually does for the skin? I know it is silly, because I have used toner, and I still do not know what it does! :P But I read all these articles on how you should use toner. The most I have figured out is that it minimizes pores? I have tried the Oil of Olay toner, but I just have not seen any real difference. Maybe I am using the wrong toner and should be using a different one (preferably something not much more expensive)? Thanks everyone!

Toners are used for many different things. It depends on your skin type and the products you are using. Toners can be used to adjust the pH of your skin back to normal after using a very alkaline or acidic product. An astringent toner you would only use on oily/acne skin. On regular skin it would strip its natural moisture and cause more oil production which leads to future breakouts. Toners also help to remove any resedue left behind by a cleanser and refresh the skin. So as you can see, they serve lots of purposes. It's just a matter of finding one that's right for you and your skin type.
